Your underlying beliefs are critical to
maintaining any meaningful change in your life.
A big reason for my feelings of lower
achievement and motivation was that I lacked clarity or a strong sense of
purpose.
Sure, I had a general concept of what I
wanted to do, a vague future vision and some ideals in mind.
I believed I understood who I was and
what I cared about. In fact, I thought I was about as self-aware as I could
get. I didn’t think there was much more to know or learn about myself.
But I soon realized it’s when we think we
already know ourselves well enough, and our work is done, that we risk
stagnation.
Even if you think of yourself as highly
self-aware, it’s the continual re-discovery process that allows you to progress
and grow as an individual.
We can do this by sharing or journaling
about our experiences through a lens of both our identity & our emotions.
On occasion, consider your strengths,
personality, mission, vision & values from new perspectives.
While it’s critical to have a solid
grounding in your identity & purpose, it’s equally important to remain open
and flexible to the possibility of new, better identities to come.
Coaching is an incredibly powerful way to
be seen & reflected in a new light, be reminded of your beauty &
essence, and inspired to take action in new directions.
